How to tell if it’s really BNZ
BNZ says it will never:
- email or text you a link to online banking and ask you to log in
- send you a text message containing a link to a website, or a number to call
- ask about your PIN, account number or password
- ask you to transfer money to help catch a scammer or a bank employee
- ask you to download software so someone can reach your Internet Banking remotely
- call you or send notifications from an international phone number

Call BNZ on 0800 735 901 straight away. The line is open every day of the year, including public holidays. If you are overseas, call +64 4 473 5901. BNZ also asks you to report the scam to the New Zealand Police on 105.
